Olliffe Ranch
Credit: Alex Diekmann
The Madison River between the Three Dollar Bridge and Raynolds Pass, west of Yellowstone National Park, is one of the West's premier trout fisheries. Owners of the historic Olliffe Ranch have always allowed access to the river across their private land, but future access would have been threatened if the land changed hands. In 2006, TPL placed a conservation easement over 1,521 acres of the ranch, securing permanent public hunting rights and access to over a mile of river frontage linking two existing state fishing access sites on either side. The easement was purchased using money from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund.
