Half Circle Ranch
Credit: Megan Sullivan
In 2009, The Trust for Public Land and our local partner, the Gallatin Valley Land Trust secured a conservation easement on the Half Circle cattle ranch, permanently protecting the ranch from development and establishing a permanent trailhead where hunters and hikers can access the Bridger Mountains. An unofficial trail has been there for years, and since the 400-acre ranch is under block management, the public can openly hunt deer and elk on it. Now, the landowner has made these rights permanent, and ensured that his land will be passed on to the next generation as a working ranch.
