Maryland

More than five million people live in the Baltimore-Washington D.C. metro area, with growth expected to accelerate in the coming decades. Recognizing the critical need for watershed protection, The Trust for Public Land is creating parks and conservation areas along the western Chesapeake Bay shoreline and tributaries of four major river systems: the Gunpowder, Patuxent, Patapsco, and Potomac. In Baltimore, TPL worked for decades to create the 14-mile Gwynns Falls Trail, which links more than 30 neighborhoods to thousands of acres of parkland.
