Lafitte Greenway

The Lafitte Greenway project is located in the midst of some of New Orleans' most historic neighborhoods. It seeks to create a 3.1 mile park connecting all the neighborhoods from the French Quarter, through the Treme and Mid-City neighborhoods to Lakeview, near Lake Ponchartrain. Begun in 2006, the project will create a continuous corridor of parks, bike trails, public spaces, and playgrounds. In 2010, TPL bought a 16.5 acre parcel to add to the Greenway. The property had been the site of the now-defunct Louisiana Institute of Film Technology (LIFT) Studio. With the LIFT addition, New Orleans celebrated the city's first new park since Hurricane Katrina.
