As communities continue to recover from Hurricane Katrina, The Trust for Public Land is repairing and revitalizing New Orleans' parks—including much-loved City Park, which was heavily damaged by floodwaters. TPL is also helping to build the city's first new park in two decades, an 18-acre site to be incorporated into the Lafitte Greenway.

Beyond New Orleans, TPL has added restored native forest to the Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge as part of a carbon sequestration effort.  In addition to TPL's work along the fragile Gulf Coast, Louisiana reforestation forms a key component of TPL's Climate Change Initiative
