In 1998, TPL protected 20 acres of waterfront property near Louisville, the missing link in a 2-mile open space corridor along the Ohio River. The property, home to a farmhouse built in 1862, and listed with the National Register of Historic Places, was targeted for protection by the Jefferson County Master Plan. The farmland is an ideal complement to an adjacent historic park celebrating traditional nineteenth century life along the Ohio River. Through TPL's help in negotiating this acquisition, the greater Louisville area now benefits from increased public access to the Ohio River and the preservation of an important element of local history and landscape.
