Louisville is counting on The Trust for Public Land to help realize Mayor Jerry Abramson's vision for "A City of Parks." Already, TPL has helped to expand Jefferson Memorial Forest and secure a 95-acre site for a new fitness and community center.
Also in progress are a multi-use trail around the entire metro perimeter, including Aydellot Farm, near Louisville, and the addition of new parkland in the Floyds Fork watershed. For visitors and Kentucky residents seeking recreational opportunities beyond their urban parks, TPL has added nearly 2,000 acres to Daniel Boone National Forest and more recently, 1,800 acres to the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.
