Stonington’s historic Coogan Farm is the largest parcel of undeveloped land between Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium, where the country meets the coast. The property’s sweeping views, grassy meadows, and peaceful forests—alive with the sound of songbirds—create a place of solace and inspiration; its massive stone walls and remnants of early settlements are a connection to local and regional New England history. The 34-acre farm also links Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center (DPNC), Denison Homestead, and Avalonia Land Conservancy's valuable wildlife habitat in the heart of Mystic.
The DPNC is partnering with The Trust for Public Land to purchase the Coogan Farm to ensure that the land will be used for conservation, environmental education, and public recreation. We are working to raise the $3.5 million needed for the purchase by early 2013.
