Pine Avenue is one of four major park developments The Trust for Public Land is leading in the Los Angeles area. Located in a densely populated, underprivileged neighborhood in Maywood—the most densely populated city west of the Mississippi—the Pine Avenue Park project transformed a 6,600 square-foot vacant lot into a vibrant community green space. To ensure that the new park meets local needs, TPL engaged the community in the design process, soliciting input and feedback as plans unfurled. Features of the park include:
- A native plant garden
- Grassy play and picnic areas
- Children’s water play station with a farm style pump and stream.
- Community-designed mosaics
