Larch Avenue Park

For years, the City of Lawndale had only one park for its many residents. In April 2012, TPL secured funding through the California State Parks, Department of Parks and Recreation, Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program to build a park on a 1.5 acre vacant lot purchased by the City. Plans call for an entry plaza with decorative gates that will take visitors to a large space for community gatherings with shaded areas, picnic tables, and restrooms. Children of all ages will be able to play safely in the tot lot or playground, separated by mosaic-tiled seat walls. Adults will be able to exercise with friends at the Fitness Zones™ located along the perimeter walking path that winds through rolling, grassy mounds. Other amenities include night-sky friendly lighting, native and drought-tolerant plants, local art, and screening between neighborhood residences—elements that address the community's concerns for their new park.

The site will be maintained by the City of Lawndale. Project partners include From Lot to Spot and the City of Lawndale.
