The Trust for Public Land is the leading organization helping agencies and communities identify and create funds for conservation from federal, state, local, and philanthropic sources. Our Federal Affairs staff works with Congress and administration officials to secure federal funding (see also Policy & Legislation).

Leader in Conservation Funding

Many state and local governments are seeking ways to finance land conservation in order to preserve quality of life in communities and protect land and water for future generations. our Conservation Funding program helps states, counties, and municipalities design, pass, and implement legislation and ballot measures that dedicate new public funds for parks and land conservation. To pass these measures, we work with our lobbying and campaign affiliate, The Conservation Campaign (TCC). We also partner with foundations and private donors to encourage philanthropic support. Since 1996, we have helped 448 ballot measures gain voter approval—a success rate of over 80 percent—generating $34 billion in new funding for land conservation. Every $1 invested in this program has produced over $2,000 in new public funds.
