Coastal and Estuarine Land Conservation Program
In 2002, TPL worked with Congress to create the "Coastal and Estuarine Land Conservation Program" (CELCP). This program essentially funds pass-through grants to states and local governments for land acquisition in a state's coastal zone. read more »
Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program
The Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program was enacted in the 2008 Farm Bill. The program provides 50-50 matching grants to tribes, local governments and qualifying nonprofits for fee purchase of forestlands to convert to community forests. read more »
Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund
The Cooperative Endangered Speices Conservation Fund (Section 6 of the Endangered Species Act) is administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and provides funding for two distinct land acquisition programs. read more »
Department of Defense Encroachment

Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program
First established in 1996, the Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program (FRPP) provides matching grants to states, local, tribal and nonprofit entities for the purchase of agricultural conservation easements. The program is administered by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. read more »
Federal Land Transaction Facilitation Act (FLTFA)
Authorized by Congress in 2000, the Federal Land Transaction Facilitation Act (FLTFA) allows the Department of the Interior agencies and the U.S. Forest Service to use the proceeds from sales of Bureau of Land Management lands to acquire inholdings in national parks, national wildlife refuges, national forests and BLM and designated areas. read more »
Healthy Forests Reserve Program
The Healthy Forests Reserve Program is intended to assist landowners in voluntarily restoring, protecting, and enhancing forest resources on their lands through conservation easements, 30-year contracts, and ten-year cost share agreements. read more »
Land and Water Conservation Fund
The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) was established by Congress in 1965. The Act designated that a portion of receipts from offshore oil and gas leases be placed into a fund annually for state and local conservation, as well as for the protection of our national treasures (parks, forest, and wildlife areas). read more »
National Coastal Wetlands Conservation
The National Coastal Wetlands Conservation Grant Program is administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and provides matching funds through a national, competitively awarded grant process for projects that acquire, restore, and enhance the wetlands of coastal states and trust territories. read more »
