South Chickamauga Creek Greenway

Southpoint Park on Roosevelt Island, NY

Southpoint Park

In New York, The Trust for Public Land is helping develop nine acres of Roosevelt Island in the East River between Manhattan and Queens, which was once known as Welfare Island and a former site for hospitals, penitentiaries, and asylums, creating Southpoint Park which includes architect James Renwick's Smallpox Hospital, the city's only landmarked ruin. read more »

Southside Community Farm

TPL worked with Southside Community Land Trust to prevent development on a portion of Southside Community Farm in Providence, Rhode Island, which continues as a community Providence School System resource. read more »

St. Paul's Priory, MN

St. Paul Priory

In 1960, the Sisters of the Order of St. Benedict purchased a rolling glacial moraine in Maplewood as site for a college and retirement home. For four decades the land remained open as Maplewood expanded and developers sought to purchase the property. read more »

Staten Island Wetlands

As part of its New York-New Jersey Harbor Estuary Program, TPL (with the NYC Audubon Society) has helped protect critical wetland habitats on Staten Island's west shore along the Arthur Kill, preserving wildlife habitat in the New York City area. read more »

Stephens Lake

Working against a tight timeline, TPL helped negotiate an agreement between landowner Stephens College and the city, and assisted in structuring a funding strategy approved by voters in November, 2000. The park opened to the public in 2001. read more »

Story Mill

In the shadow of the iconic, century-old Story Mill, is a magnificent property that is home to a significant wildlife habitat and wetland complex. read more »
