Help Save Stringer's Ridge in Chattanooga

The wooded hillside along Stringer's Ridge is one of Chattanooga's greatest natural and cultural resources. Last year, many residents were alarmed when a development proposal revealed that this scenic and historic landscape was privately owned and could be covered with condominiums. In the fall of 2008, TPL launched a campaign to conserve 92 acres of Stringer's Ridge with support from the City of Chattanooga and several local foundations. TPL purchased 37 acres in January 2009, and a conservation easement will be placed on the remainder in spring 2009.
Funding goals
Thanks to the generosity of many concerned individuals and groups, we've raised over $2 million of the total $2.5 million needed to protect this very special landscape. Our goal now is to secure the remaining $444,000 by summer 2009 to ensure we can preserve the entire 92-acre tract. Learn more.

Conservation Plans for Stringers Ridge
In partnership with the City of Chattanooga, the Trust for Public Land (TPL) will:
- acquire the 92-acre undeveloped ridge
- place a conservation easement on the land to restrict development
- conserve most of the site as a public park
