Campaign to Protect Mount Williams Park

Concerned citizens and several public organizations have come together to preserve a 30-acre forested jewel in Beaverton, Oregon, known as Mount Williams. Surrounded by suburban development, half the land has already been purchased through a combination of local, regional and state monies. To protect the remaining half of this unique open space requires a second round of public funding and $100,000 in private support.

Community Campaign Goal

The community needs to raise $100,000 to reach the $2.7 million necessary to protect this unique treasure for the public's enjoyment. Community volunteers are seeking the assistance of the surrounding neighborhoods, and individuals and businesses in the broader community to help make this happen.

A Community Resource

The long-term protection of Mount Williams will ensure its natural beauty, urban refuge for wildlife, and direct and scenic link to existing area parks remain forever. Protection of the property is a high community priority. This is why the City of Beaverton, Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District, Washington County, and the Trust for Public Land are working together to make it happen.

The Mount Williams property provides an urban refuge for wildlife and supports more than 20 bird species. Visitors to the site will experience a natural setting rich with plant and animal habitat. The mixed upland forest of Douglas fir, red alder, big leaf maple and madrone attract and provide nesting and foraging for a variety of wildlife.
