TPL's Los Angeles Program concentrates on the health and well-being of the region's nearly 10 million residents. Working from the mountains to the ocean, and from inner city to wilderness, we're creating new parks, playgrounds and natural areas in park-deficient neighborhoods, and protecting many of the last remaining opens spaces in urban Los Angeles and along the suburban fringe.
The Los Angeles program has four focus areas:
Park acquisition, design and development
Less than a third of Los Angeles County children live within walking distance of a park, and many adults lack access to safe places for recreation. We're working with communities throughout Los Angeles counties to help neighborhood residents create parks that meet their needs. MORE
Fitness Zones
This program installs custom-designed, easy-to-use, isometric outdoor gym equipment made specifically for neighborhood parks in Los Angeles County neighborhoods where the need is greatest--usually lower income communities with many residents under age 18 and high rates of obesity and obesity related diseases. MORE
Green Alleyways
Nine hundred miles of alleyways thread the City of Los Angeles, most of them desolate concrete corridors. We're working with partners to transform some of these into safe, vibrant, and usable community spaces. MORE
Natural Lands
The Trust for Public Land works in the San Gabriel Mountains and Foothills and the Santa Monica Bay Watershed to halt subdivision in metropolitan Los Angeles' the last remaining large landscapes. MORE
