Parks for People - Los Angeles

With No Parks Nearby, These Are Their Playgrounds.

More than two thirds of Los Angeles' children do not live within walking distance of a park or playground. Instead of grassy parks, baseball diamonds, and soccer fields, these children play in streets, alleyways, and vacant lots. In partnership with other nonprofits, local communities, landowners, and public agencies, The Trust for Public Land-Los Angeles is leading efforts to provide all Los Angeles residents access to close-to-home parks and natural areas.

TPL works throughout Los Angeles County to create community-supported parks, playgrounds, and open space in crowded, often low-income, communities. Since 1972, The Trust for Public Land has created and protected over 11,000 acres of new parks and open space in LA County.
