Shepard ‘Shep’ Harris is a recent transfer from the east to west coast. He is currently Vice President of Investments at UBS Financial Services, based in their San Francisco office. Since 1977 Shep has also been active in real estate and development on Mount Desert Island, Maine.
There, on the island that is home to the lion’s share of Acadia National Park he has planned and managed environmentally-oriented development for the thriving local community; including two large forestry projects, numerous land exchanges and sales transactions with Acadia National Park and Maine Coast Heritage Trust. His commitment to smart development and long-standing belief in the importance of keeping nature close to home makes him a perfect fit for The Trust for Public Land.
Shep is an active Community Service volunteer, most recently President of Teton Valley Education Foundation, Chair for Penjajawoc Marsh Bangor Mall Management Commission, and Founding Vice President for Bangor Land Trust.
He graduated from Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts) with a BFA in crafts in 1983. Shep and his wife Melissa live in San Francisco. They frequently travel across the west to explore and visit with their three children.
