Conservation Funding

The Trust for Public Land conducts and compiles exhaustive research on funding sources for conservation. We publish a variety of reports, maintain the Conservation Almanac, LandVote, and National Conservation Easement databases—the country’s most comprehensive repositories of information on conservation activity, and provide research services to government agencies and other partner organizations to help generate public funding for land conservation.
LandVote
The most complete history available on conservation finance ballot measures, detailed by state, finance mechanism, and jurisdiction type. Visit landvote.org.
Conservation Almanac
The nation's only comprehensive database of American land conservation and conservation funding, offering information on public dollars spent on conservation; geospatial mapping at the parcel level; conserved acres as compared to developed acres; and states' conservation programs, policy frameworks, and public-private and federal conservation partnerships. Visit www.conservationalmanac.org.
National Conservation Easement Database (NCED)
The Trust for Public Land joined forces with four other leading conservation organizations to develop the NCED: the first national database to provide a comprehensive picture of the estimated 40 million acres of privately-owned conservation easement lands in the United States. This public-private partnership creates a single, up-to-date, nationwide system for managing and accessing data about conservation easements. Visit nced.conservationregistry.org.
