In the heart of the New Jersey Highlands, a 134-acre complex of hydrologically critical land has been protected from development. The Highlands are the primary drinking water source for half of New Jersey's residents.
A conservation deal completed today will protect more than 129 acres south of Decker Road in Rockaway and Boonton Townships, The Trust for Public Land, the New Jersey Conservation Foundation, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and Morris County announced.
The Trust for Public Land, State of New Jersey, Morris County, and Jefferson Township are pleased to announce that a 835-acre property, previously known as the Baker Firestone property, has been preserved and is in the process of being conveyed to the State of New Jersey and Jefferson Township.
