Report: Keeping Balboa Park Magnificent in its Second Century

This report provides strategies to renew one the most cherished urban parks in the country, including the option of establishing a conservancy to support the 1,200 acre park. Funded by three separate foundations, the report is the result of three separate studies on usership, capital and deferred maintenance and management and planning in other major urban parks in U.S. cities, such as Central Park in New York and Hermann Park in Houston. While the report centers on Balboa Park, other cities may find similar challenges and opportunities in their major parks or park systems. (2008)
