In 2008, TPL helped to found The Intertwine Alliance, a broad coalition of independent organizations working to preserve land, water and habitat in the Portland/Vancouver Metropolitan Region and to create opportunities for residents to connect with nature.

The Intertwine Alliance is remarkably broad: public and private; national, state and local; non-profit and commercial; organizations and individuals from all over the region are coming together to demonstrate their belief in the importance of parks, trails and nature to the quality of life, and boost the effectiveness of, and investment in parks and conservation in Portland and its surrounding region. Our goal is for the Intertwine to encompass the world’s best system of parks, trails and natural areas—and for residents to enjoy that system to its fullest extent.
