Potomac View

Thomas Jefferson declared the view of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers from Harpers Ferry as “worth the voyage across the Atlantic.” Each year, more than a quarter of a million people view this spectacular backdrop from Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. Just a few miles away, hikers along the popular Appalachian National Scenic Trail take in the sight from Weverton Cliffs.

The Trust for Public Land is working to conserve more than 50 acres of this historic viewshed, located in Loudoun County, Virginia. Protecting this land from development would also ensure safe river access for canoeists and rafters and connect the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail corridor to the Appalachian Trail.
