Horse Springs Ranch

Horse Springs Ranch featured image

Highlighted with cottonwood, oak, and ponderosa pine, this 16,600-acre working cattle ranch in Catron County, New Mexico, serves as an invaluable wildlife corridor between federal lands to the east and west. A year-round creek on the property runs clear and strong, even in the most severe drought years, providing essential water for elk, javelina, and bears. In 2006, we worked with the owners and federal and state officials to protect part of the ranch with a conservation easement that will prevent development while allowing ranching to continue and protecting the ranch’s wildlife habitat and other natural values.
