Florida Gulf Coast Trail

With help from partners across the state, Trust for Public Land is leading efforts to complete the Florida Gulf Coast Trail, a 420-mile-long corridor traversing seven southwest Florida coastal counties: Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee, and Collier. It’s a trail packed with potential, and not just for those who might someday travel its entire mighty length. Having green space in Florida neighborhoods opens up other possibilities: a quick jog before work, a picnic lunch break, or sending kids out to play after school. 

While sections of the trail already exist, many gaps remain. Trust for Public Land is coordinating a regional effort with public and private partners to complete the gaps and connect people and communities along the corridor. Outdoor tourism is essential to Florida’s economy, and this trail will offer miles of fun for visitors. We know trails like this one are also powerful drivers of economic growth and treasured spaces for neighbors seeking nature, exercise, and alternative transport close to home. That’s why we’re committed to making the Florida Gulf Coast Trail a reality.
