Scenic Columbia Gorge Property Protected

A 159-acre property in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area in Washington, has been protected, the Trust for Public Land and U.S. Forest Service announced today. The announcement finishes the acquisition of 1,963 acres of forest land in Klickitat County in the Major Creek drainage, which runs into the Columbia River. read more »

Prickett Lake Land Protected

With the recent protection of 376 acres of land, a total of 1,269 acres has been protected surrounding Prickett Lake and added to the Ottawa National Forest, The Trust for Public Land and U.S. Forest Service announced today. Salazar Dedicates Two National Wildlife Refuges in New Mexico

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar today dedicated the Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge in Albuquerque, making it the first urban refuge in the Southwest and one of a handful across the nation. 4,532 Acres added to Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge

A 4,532-acre North Country property and popular hunting and snowmobiling destination has been permanently protected as an addition to the Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge, The Trust for Public Land, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, andPlum Creek Timber Company announced today. The conservation purchase is the second phase of what partners expect to be more than 31,000 acres of conserved land in the Androscoggin Headwaters to sustain working timberlands, protect water quality and wildlife habitat, and expand public recreation lands. read more »

Agreement Would Conserve Mississippi Northwoods Natural Area
