Kathy became the Director of Federal Affairs for the Trust for Public Land in January, 2003. Prior to assuming that position, she served as Director of Federal Programs, Associate Director of Federal Affairs and as a legislative representative for TPL, beginning her service in April, 1994. In her current position, Kathy oversees the Federal Affairs department for TPL, managing a staff of ten and directing the organization's federal policy, program and funding work. In all her roles at TPL, she has worked to secure funding for specific land conservation projects in many states across the nation as well as worked on the development and funding of federal programs such as the Forest Legacy Program and the Farmland Protection Program. Prior to joining TPL, Kathy served as a legislative assistant on environmental issues for Sen. William S. Cohen (Maine) from 1983-1994, and before that as a legislative assistant to Rep. David F. Emery (Maine) from 1980 to 1983, focusing on his Merchant Marine and Fisheries Committee work.
