Elizabeth (Beth) A. Maher

Elizabeth (Beth) A. Maher is a retired Learning Disabilities Specialist who is now focused fundraising for a number of non-profit organizations. Raising four children in New York City, Beth served on numerous committees for the Parent's Associations and worked with the Development offices to raise funds for Capital Campaigns, Benefits, Annual Funds and Senior Class Gifts. Beth's work with the National Down Syndrome Society spanned twenty years; of which she served eight as a Board Member. She helped lead the effort on two Capital Campaigns and chaired or served on all the committees for all NDSS' major annual events. She joined NYC-Parents in Action, Inc., a non-profit organization that raises awareness of drug and alcohol abuse in the private school sector and served on its board for eight years, four as Vice-President. As a member of the Board and Advisory Board of The Bloomingdale House of Music, she helped to raise funds to provide scholarships for much needed music programs in NYC public schools.

Beth joined TPL's NYC Playgrounds Program Fundraising Committee in 2005. In addition, she serves as a Governor of Off-the-Record Lecture Series, a forum to listen to and question experts in the field of foreign policy. Beth received her B.A. from Newton College of the Sacred Heart and an M.S. from Teachers College, Columbia University. Beth lives in New York City and is the mother of four adult children. She enjoys summers on Cape Cod with family and friends and hiking in the mountains of Colorado. When given the opportunity, she loves traveling to new destinations in the world.
