Susan Hess, Immediate Past Chair, New Orleans, is a fundraising consultant and community activist. She was the founding president of the Louisiana Nature Center and served on its board for many years. She was also president of the University of New Orleans Foundation, which she helped to create, and where she is still an active member. She was a longtime trustee of the Stern Fund foundation, and served as its president twice. Over the years she has served on the boards of the National Urban League, Longue Vue Foundation, the National Council of Jewish Women, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and the Girls Scouts of America among others. At present she is president of the Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LA/SPCA) as well as the New Orleans Advisory Council for The Trust for Public Land. She has served on the board of the National D Day Museum since its opening, where she chaired its first ever fundraising event, the Victory Ball.
