Chuck Pavlish

Minnesota

Chuck graduated from Macalester College and was a longtime English teacher and coach at Shakopee High School. He spent his summers working as a National Park Ranger in Katmai National Park (on the Alaskan Peninsula), where salmon jump the falls and are caught by bears. He has hiked in over 20 US National Parks and wilderness areas as well as national parks in New Zealand, Newfoundland, British Columbia, Tasmania and Norway. Chuck is now retired and is especially fond of bears!

In 2007, Chuck worked with The Trust for Public Land to protect his family’s 30 areas on Pike Lake in Prior Lake. The parcel is now used as an in-progress city environmental park with wood chip walking trails. The adjacent 18 acres was added to the park by a neighbor in 2012 with hopes of the Mdewaketon Sioux tribe adding its large adjacent parcel to the park as well.
