Katie Young is a director of strategy and category at Starbucks. She currently is focused on growing and branding the food business. Katie previously spent time at McKinsey & Company as an Associate Principal focusing on agribusiness, strategy under uncertainty, and agricultural development. Her clients included the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation and USAID and her work travels have taken her to over 23 countries. Katie is a graduate of Kenyon College where she studied Political Science and Spanish and the University of Chicago where she earned a Master's in Public Policy focusing on international development from the Harris School of Public Policy studies. She is an active member of the Global Washington board in addition to recently joining the Trust for Public Land board. Katie is enjoying getting to know the Pacific Northwest after spending most of her life in the Midwest (Ohio and Chicago). She enjoys hiking, travelling, and generally being outdoors. Katie and her husband, Chad, are expecting their first child in June of 2013.
