Alexander S. (Lex) Kelso, Jr.
Lex Kelso is a Principal of Green Coast Enterprises, LLC. Green Coast Enterprises is a real-estate development firm that focuses on urban areas of the coastal southeast. Our projects are profitable, and they result in economically vital, environmentally superior spaces that are healthy and exciting for their users. We have worked on over 500 housing units in the last six years: finding property, arranging tax-incentive and conventional financing, selecting and managing architects, engineers and contractors, performing quality control and selling or renting the units. Our four-building, 28,000 square-foot commercial development in central New Orleans, anchored by a community health center and a business incubator space for social entrepreneurs is already transforming that neighborhood.
Before returning to New Orleans, Lex was an entrepreneur, business executive and management consultant for twenty-five years in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was the Principal of Kelso International, a consulting firm that worked with senior executives and Boards of Directors of Fortune 500-scale companies. In the late 1990s, Lex bought, raised capital for and sold a software firm. For start-up software, industrial and securities-exchange companies, he arranged for manufacturing and testing products based on proprietary technology and sold to customers. He began his career as an Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics at Boston University’s School of Management. Lex sits on the Louisiana Boards of Directors of Boys Town of Louisiana and The Trust for Public Land. Lex holds a Ph.D. in Economics from MIT, a M.Sc. in Economics from Queen Mary College, University of London, and an A.B. in Sociology from Princeton University. He was born in New Orleans and lives there.
